Clearly, my favorite throwback toys aren't real "toys" at all.
Someone gave us one of those old tape recorders--you know the ones with the handle. My sister and I used to have hours of fun taping ourselves! We had our own radio show!
My sister has always had a great singing voice and I would do back up by singing into a fan. I KNOW I'm not the only one!

Right! my mom used to say,"if y'all don't stop that! When I was really little, I used to swim back and forth in the bathtub! Water would be everywhere!

We played all the made games but there was nothing better for a long car ride like (Nashville to New York every damn summer because flying was out of the question ) the green football game and the brown baseball game. The grandparents to the PSP and gameboy. I still have them both and my 8 year old thinks they are the best thing going. When I get off work I am going home and playing game.
Made up games: hide and go get it (all time favorite), Fly and the bounce, freeze tag, we also used to make bugs fight (going to shrink as we speak)

How about "burn out" or pencil breaking? My school actually banned pencil breaking and knuckle thumping!

We had spoon fights all the way through high school, IIRC.

Also crushed soda cans on the back of me and my friends' bicycles.

This thread is taking me back...
I remember have the Bionic Woman playset which included Jamie Summers and some type of tech/command center that had wires that would connect her bionic parts to it. I also had the Farrah Fawcett styling head doll. It came with make up and hair dye.
I remember making a Chinese rope out of rubberbands and you needed at least three people to play (because there was only two of us, a chair would sometimes suffice). I remember when a simple "wire" clothesline was all we needed and we would jump rope (double dutch) from sun up to sun down. I don't remember stopping to eat lunch or anything else.
Things I never got: - I always wanted pom poms on my roller skates.
- I always wanted a basket on the front of my bike and streamers on the handle bars.
- I never got those Wonder Woman Under Roos (still remind my mother about that one and I think I need therapy to work out my issues).
Question: Did anyone collect soda can tabs and if so, why?

Most definitely. I currently have Ms. Pac-Man on the SNES. My friends and I were playing it a few weeks ago.

Oh yes. I had that system too. I gave the first model away when I got the 2nd model that came out.
