(at bolded) It is also to protect the man's rights too. The police cannot discern if the call is truly because the aforementioned is the case or if the woman is merely doing it out of spite. Besides, even if the man is doing the above, the ability for the woman to call the police provides a means for her to do something else to protect herself from any potential harm:
FLEE THE SCENE!!!
My points above are twofold: to let women know they have a right to protect themselves from harm by psycho men, be it by fight or flight, but also to prevent abuse to the system (read: calling the police) purely for revenge and spite.
