Sorry for the double post, but I'm in the wedding of one of my best friends (June 2008) and I love her to death, but she's the textbook Bridezilla.

She insists on accompanying all the bridesmaids to Victoria's Secret, so she can CHOOSE the undergarments we'll be wearing under our dresses (because of course we're incapable of choosing the apprpriate ones on our own). We're supposed to bring our dresses with us so she can see how our bras and undies look in them!

She's hiring a makeup artist for us. Great right? It's not so great because she asking that we PAY for THREE trials of our makeup in the months leading up to the wedding--for $100 a pop. She wants to make sure our make up looks "perfect for her big day".

I would say, "Thanks but no thanks, it's not my job to get made-up for $300 before the wedding." what a waste of money and what a bitch of a bride. And who is she to pick out your bra and underwear. Doesn't she realize that no one really gives two craps how you all look? Bridesmaids/matrons could show up in burlap sacks most of the time.

I paid for my attendants hair and make-up. My caveat was just to not have my younger sister do her own make up...she does a crap job...too much eyeliner. They picked out their dresses and their shoes...I just picked them the color that I wanted them both to wear and even then, they had the choice between three- but they had to wear the same color.

See and that's how I thought it was supposed to be. In alot of the weddings I've been in, if there was something specific she wanted us to have that was out of the usual (i.e. extra makeup trials or an updo from some super expensive salon) she would PAY for it.

Update: I called her about the underwear thing and she told me that I didn't have to. She told me that it's not me that she's worried about, but some of the other bridesmaids. She said that there will be no "VPL on my day."

I'm watching Bridezilla and My Super Sweet 16 and realized the Sweet 16'ers will end up to be on Bridezilla.

I hate it when women call it "my day". It wasn't my day, nor did it need to be. It was a wedding ceremony and my husband and I did it our way. What happens after that one day is far more important in the long run. It sounds to me like your friend is thinking more about the day being "perfect" - which they never are, than actually about the fun aspect behind it all. Who cares about VPL? Like I said, does anyone actually look at the bride's attendants? As long as the groom shows up, no one is wasted during the ceremony and all the people they the bride and groom really want to show up do, isn't that enough?

I am curious to know how many of these Bridezillas are still married or what the divorce rate of these "my day" women is.

My sister was freezing her butt off at my wedding and ended up wearing her Ugg boots, did I care? Not really, did I give her some fun loving crap for wearing Uggs? Sure. Granted the dress was long and covered her feet otherwise I probably would have asked her to put better shoes on for pictures, but we were in Ireland in late december so I didn't care. I was freezing my butt off too.

If there is anything I learned at Engaged Encounter, "A wedding is a day, a marriage is a lifetime."

I can see asking you all to wear the "proper undergarments," but it doesn't have to be Victoria's Secret. Most department stores have affordable items.

The whole makeup deal is a little ridiculous too. I paid for my bridesmaid's hair, make-up, hotel, etc. That is a bit much for her to ask of you...you never know folk's financial situation.

I watched last nights show for the first time (it was a repeat). That Andrea bride was such a bitch to her bridesmaids. I would have told her to fuck off and left.

I missed most of the drama with the mom & daughter though I did see that she gets jilted next week? So going to watch but does anyone else want to fill me in on what their deal is?

Left at the altar

I feel so bad for the woman who is going to get left at the altar on Sunday's episode...I wonder why she is still going to allow them to air the show.

I guess she signed a contract that says they will show the episode no matter what happens...that is unfortunate.

I have a feeling that they (the show) asked if she was fine with aring the episode. At least I hope so.

I felt bad for Anita too at first but I also blame her for allowing her daughter to continuously talk to her as she did. My Mama would have knocked me down and out had it had been me talking like that. Anita had performed her duties as a parent as Christina seemed to be living quite well and still at home at 24. IF Anita was making a mistake it was hers to make and her $$ to spend. We also need to remember that Christina and the aunts took the $1500 that Anita discovered missing. There was just so much wrong going on that it would have been a miracle for it to have turned out all right.

If I had been Anita, I would not have eloped so quickly because a phone call could have cushioned the no-show for the wedding but she was not granted that. If you think about it hard somewhere this doesn't really add up . . . I'm wondering if this no-show was planned by the show with the groom for the drama effect. Did you not notice that Anita had an entirely new ensemble (dress & veil) for the Las Vegas wedding when she bought her original wedding dress less than a week before her wedding date. The quick forgiveness, elopement and new ensemble made the entire episode suspect for me.

Tonight's episode was interesting.

Christina is an awful brat, but tonight showed me that Anita has problems too!

This man caused her what was probably the worst humiliation in HER LIFE, and she kept saying "my family is trying to ruin everything. This is their fault." WTF? This guy LEFT YOU. I almost wanted to cry myself when she had to go to her reception alone.

Then she married him the NEXT DAY? She has got to have some self esteem issues.

Alicia is a Bridezilla, but I think her mother in law was rude to talk about her to the employees at the nail place.
