Since I hinted at this in my musical rush thread, I have to tell you about Socially Freaky Girl.

SFG went through rush with me and did not get into any a cappella group. She came out to audition again the first time that I was on the "other side." I was so concerned that she would harass the other PNMs, the way she'd clung to me, that we did not even call her back for the first round.

Several weeks later, she recognized a member of my group on the campus shuttle bus. Remember, he is a virtual stranger to her. She asked him when the callback list would go up.

He said, "Um, it went up the next morning, just like we said at the audition." (He didn't add: you weren't on it!)

She: "What?? You mean it's too late for me to come to the callback?"

He: "Well...we've already admitted and initiated the two newbies for this semester."

She: "I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED MY CHANCE! STUPID, STUPID! I ALWAYS MESS IT UP!!" And she started banging her head against the wall of the bus!

BTW, I googled her, and she's now a PhD candidate with several publications in a challenging field at a world-famous university, so she's very successful. It's good to see that she's doing so well...but I surely don't regret that cut.
