Me either.
I missed the first fifteen minutes of the first episode and woke up thinking "crap!" but then I saw not so much.

I think they revamped it better in the sense that it doesn't just rush into the heart of the plot as it did the first time. As for funny, I cracked up because I love Brown's character. But I know he won't be a regular part of the show. And the Uncle is not Archie Bunker reincarnate. He's just plain old surly and irritating. But I do think the show has potential. And I'll still be tuning in.

They have taped about 40 episdoes and hope to have all 100 done by Christmas. For most shows, it takes four to five seasons to do 100 episodes (if they do the average 16-27 shows per season). Tyler is trying to do 100 episodes in ONE.

Here is the actually link where I got this from: http://blackvoices.aol.com/blogs/200...yne-interview/

I didn't catch it but I didn't think it was funny from the previews. Nice try though.

For those like me who missed it (because of work, church, other obligation or just plain forgot), both episodes are on tbs.com.

All I saw were the preview of the first episode and I laughed at that 2 minutes. It wasn't on tbs.com when I looked yesterday, but somebody said it's up now. I'll have to watch after work.

You didn't miss anything. Madea came over in the first episode, quoted some wrong bible scriptures, tried to posion the uncle with a sweet potato pie, terrible acting but laughing at their own jokes anyway.
Second episode was about the uncles' bday party, he didn't want one, they gave him one anyway, he was . Brown was there, trying to steal all the gifts, he was loud, his clothes were LOUDER. Allen Payne's house burned down and his wife may be a crackhead or a "loose woman." Roll Credits.

I was not impressed at all. It looked like a bootleg version of the play. Also Madea was not that funny to me.

Lmbo!!! Thanks for the recap. The 1st episode was sooooo boring that by the time the 2nd episode came on, I had moved on to something else. I kept the television tuned to that channel though. If he wants to reach 100 episodes (or even that first 40), he needs all the ratings he can get.

Wow! I didn't realize they taped that many episodes already. I knew they started showing the episodes in a few states a while back, but I didn't know they were up to 40!!!

You made history again!

What can I say? I remember last year HOUSE OF PAYNE aired ten episodes in only ten markets. And when the first shows aired I got a lot of messages on the message board saying what they liked and didn't like. I remember sending an email asking those who didn't like the show to be patient with it and just watch. Well by the last of the ten episodes a lot of you who had reservations about the show were in love with it. You may remember that.

The same is true here. It's very hard to do a sitcom because you have to set up the characters and get people involved in them and that takes time. It's hard to explain and develop characters especially when you only have 22 minutes in an episode. It's much easier in plays and in movies where I have hours. So, with all of that said I want to assure you that you have not seen the best of HOUSE OF PAYNE.

I know that you're busy and your time is precious, but what I would ask that you do, those of you who will, is to continue to watch HOUSE OF PAYNE on Wednesday at 9. I think a lot of you are going to be pleased and surprised at the direction the show takes on. I'm only asking you to commit to the next five weeks…that's it! If you are not drawn in by then, then this may not be your type of show, but those of you who will, you'll see this show is going to turn up the heat in a minute.

To my Die Hard, Ride or Die folks, those of you that have been with me through all of this, thank you for the love and support. WOW is all I can say. When you have favor with God He gives you favor with man. And I can see that to be true with all of you.

Thank you for giving this cast a helping hand. Nobody, I mean nobody would give them a break. And they are so talented. As you watch you will see what I mean. So just be a little patient with the show and stick it out with your boy then you'll see what I mean. And thank you to all of you that watched, as well as went to the message board. We need the feed back--the good as well as the not so good. Just know that I appreciate it and I respect it. I don't care what any critics say as long as I'm getting the real from you. And a lot of ya'll gave me the real! (smile)

I am so grateful to God to have people like you in my corner. You made such a difference. HOUSE OF PAYNE was and is the highest rated debut of a sitcom in basic cable history. By you all watching you sent the ratings 94% higher than what was expected. The launch was amazing! Thank you for helping so many deserving people realize their dreams,
and for helping us to make history.

So please continue to watch if you can. "Meet the Browns" is my next sitcom starring Cora and Brown and it is all ready to go. So by you continuing to watch you are helping to pave the way for that one.

Thank you...

TYLER P
