it's like vigilante justice. a group of citizens (usually a mob) get together and decide someone's fate, judge, jury, and court of appeals all wrapped up in one!

OH GOD! The worst is when alumni from the 60s, 70s, 80s come and visit and get all mad because we don't have thirty man pledge classes (the alumni that participate regularly understand the changing times though). "Why don't you guys just throw a rush kegger?! Yeah we used to have the cops shut down 11th street and have parties during rush week!"
WOW. Now I know who caused all the rules and regulations we have to follow to the tee.
