ooh! I had homeade ice cream last October at an alumnae ice-cream social, simply delicious. It was made from an electric machine though. In our house growing up we had an electric one as well. BUT at girl scout camp and church in the summers, we used to make it with the crank and rock salt. I think all the hard work makes it taste "better."

Goshdangit yall, I came from a poor family but I have NEVER had any homemade ice cream--now yall got me yearnin' for some. And I can imagine how good it is.
*looks at watch* About 3 hours left in the workday. I'ma havta call Mom and see if she can make me some homemade ice cream.

Ahhh, the memories of the rock salt and the churning. I thought about buying one of the new fangled modern ice cream makers, but wondered if it would be the same.

I must be a heathen... my elders just cooked and baked... no one made ice cream.... But I have had Blue Bell cause they are finally selling them in our city.... there is a place here called Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen, but I have never been there....

You know Food Network had a special about Ice Cream on last night, lol!! And as sleepy as I was, I watched the whole thing!! Anyway, of course they had to talk about the Homemade Ice Cream!! I remember my mom and I made some at least five times when I was younger. I swear you learn something new every day but apparently they have a ball that you can shake and play with to make ice cream...I was like "WOW"!! If I find a link, I'll post it!! Also check out Ecreamery.com. Here you can have them make a specific flavor(s) and they'll deliver it to your front door!! I am going to try this!!!
