I think it's sad that Kmart has been driven out of business by Wal-Mart and Target. My grandmother worked for Kmart for years and still gets together with her old co-workers once a month for lunch.
Apparently, Wal-Mart was originally able to gain the competitive edge over Kmart by hiring lots of part-time people so that they wouldn't have to give them the benefits that full-time employees normally receive. Kmart stuck to their regular hiring practices of full-time people with good benefits, and now they're having to pay for being a good employer! It just doesn't seem right.
