				Miss Universe 2007

The Miss Universe pageant will be coming on this Memorial Night on Monday at 9 eastern on NBC.
I can't wait for the pageant, but why does it have to be on Memorial Day? Why can't it be on a Friday?

 | Everybody's out for the weekend. Being that it's Memorial Day, I'm sure millions of Americans will be traveling on Thursday/Friday.

IIRC (and you pageant followers, please correct me)...Miss Teen USA/Miss USA/Miss Universe has been televised on a Monday night in recent years because many people tend to be home that night.

I'm fairly sure you're right, OTW - seems that all of the broadcasted pageants are on Mondays lately. But you have to admit, it's better than watching Charlie Sheen.

Some Miss Universe trivia for ya...
Sylvia Hitchcock Carson, Miss Universe 1967, is a Chi Omega. I recently met one of her Chi O Sisters from Alabama who told me how she happened to be drafted for the Miss Alabama pageant. She simply answered the phone at the Nu Beta Chapter house when pageant organizers were trying to encourage sorority participation. She entered Miss Alabama...and won. She went on to Miss USA...and won. Then to Miss Universe and wON!

Here's a story on what she's doing today:

			Tri-Delta also representin'.....
Canada has Inga Skaya representing us, though I'm not sure that I would agree that
Canada's "National Costume" is a PUCK BUNNY:

Was the Mexican audience booing Miss USA and chanting "Mexico" and/or "US Sucks"? That's sure what it sounded like.

I'm glad to see they evicted the troublemakers.
 Any guesses, anyone?

	That had to hurt.

I loved Miss USA's opening costume!

There were a lot of pretty evening gowns. I loved Miss Brazil's and Miss Japan's gowns. I'm so happy that Miss Japan won.Quote:

Wow! This one took me by surprise! I actually thought she looked "too sweet" for a Trump pagaent!
Am I the only one wondering how in the world Miss Tanzania would wear a tiara?

Or that Miss Slovenia looked a little too porn-star-ish?

Venezuela, Brazil, and Japan were my top 3 choices (in that order). I prefered the other ladies, but I was pretty sure that they wouldn't chose a Latina this year since Puerto Rico won last year. However, Japan did have one of the best responses to the question round.

Can someone tell me who the Top 5 were? I was outside looking for my kitty
And I just laughed when Miss USA fell! But I also felt sorry for her...I can only imagine how embarassed she was!

It's always refreshing to see a pageant winner NOT from the powerhouse countries from South America. You don't really see contestants from Asia frequently as finalists.
