Wearing letters in colors other than your GLO's

Question for the NPHC then (if you can even say):

Is wearing your colors MORE about branding (everyone knows that AKA is Pink & Green and APhiA is Black & Gold) or about the meaning behind your colors?

I unearthed my letter shirts about a year ago. In addition to permutations of shirts and letters being Sky and Sea Blue and white, I have a daffodil yellow top with a Black Watch plaid, kelly green with pink plaid, kelly green with pink floral. This was not unusual at my college. My sister was in the same GLO at a different campus and it was the same for her.

Opinions may differ, here's one:

When it comes to wearing our symbols, it is generally about the meaning behind the symbols and not violating most of our organization's written (and unwritten) protocol regarding patterns, colors, and so forth.

When it comes to just wearing clothes in certain colors (without the symbols), for ME it's about both the meaning and the identifiability as a member when I wear Crimson and Cream or red and white. But I usually don't wear my Sorority's colors or symbols when I go to Greek events.

I don't wear my letters in any other colors but Maroon and White and all of my peri is in the same colors.
And letters on your azz is gross.

not to answer for DSTCHAOS, but it cames with age for me. I don't usually wear colors or symbols to greek events either. I stopped that around 5 years in the game.

Just you wait, Sugar. Once you're five or more years into the game, you won't even need to wear 'nalia. People will already know what you're reppin'.

That's true. I do wear a necklace from time to time, but I rarely wear shirts or anything. AKAtude comes from within.

I just got myself a set of letters that don't have a single national color on the letters...it's a white zip up hoodie with green letters and gold trim. Our colors are purple and red, and honestly I think they wouldn't look that great on letters. Our house letters are navy blue with white trim on navy blue and those look awesome. So in the end, it really doesn't matter as long as you're happy with reppin it in colors you like! And to add to it, its a zip up hoodie with the letters vertical, I've never seen Sigma Phi Epsilon vertical til...well my letters and I love it. :]
