Glad you're still with us. As much as I get pissed at our legislators/local officials for turning DUIs into a cottage industry for their campaign contributors (by sending you specifically to their buddy's private weekend lockup, drug/alcohol screening/assessment/driving class/community service...) , the fact is that it is a serious crime.

99 times out of 100 you don't hurt anyone.. but that 100th time could involve your death or someone else's death. All things considered, why do it?

Exactly - and if we weren't in such a good car, I can't imagine what would have happened. The vehicle saved our lives, and honestly, the guy who hit us is lucky he's not staring at vehicular homicide.

People forget that when you make a decision like that, you affect a whole lot of other people besides yourself. I'm not going to get on a soapbox, because I'm too close to the situation and probably could not speak intelligently on it at this point.

I will say, though, that it puts the stress of finals into a different light.
