Yeah Grits, it really is up to the person to get an Alumni Directory. But is the average member going to send away to Indy for it and wait for it to come through the mail?
I was thinking of a self running website. The brother could simply update and join his information at will or when it changes, sort of like a superpages.com for LXA.
I would involve HQ as little as possible, probably only to advertise it in the C + C. Maybe a computer savy brother could set it up.

GammaZeta, I still agree with you and this and it still sounds like a tremendous idea, set up much as the way the mentoring system site is set up!
It is something that would and could be a great need for networking!
Check IHQ LXA web site and suggest this to the proper address!
As you can see, there is backing for this!
C & C is the network for all of us, Alumni and Actives in toto!
I do not know how to do this, but there has to be a possible way for it to be done!
If it can be done, I am in for sure!

Ok guys, I have a bit of insomnia this morning so I threw up some thing for the LCA business network. Take a look and let me know what you think. Lot of people were saying a yellow pages type site is ideal. I thought a sorta craigslist type thing might also be kinda cool. It took me about 30 mins to throw this up, so if you all don't like it no big deal. I didn't do much work on the categories or the layout, didn't want to have to put in a bunch of effort for something no one would use. Keep in mind I am a IT systems guy, not a IT web designer. Design isint my strong point.
This is a simple free classifieds system I found while cruising Google.

Enjoy.

An on-line, but, well managed (to keep spammers from crashing in) website/database is a great idea.
I've done work for a variety of brothers in a variety of areas, simply because I knew a brother who knew a brother who knew....and voila - an easy referral was made. I also believe, at least from my experience, the work done for one brother on behalf of another is going to be one notch higher than the normal level of service or quality...just because of the bond, and usually, at a "ZAX" discount of some sort.
Count me in - now, let's find "someone" that might be willing to do the work to set it up...cough, cough, Dever? cough cough....

After sleeping on it and realizing I hated what I put up this morning, I decided I couldn't live with myself having hosted something that ugly. I decided to take a new plan of action. Tentatively I am working on two things, a unified "yellopages", "classifieds", page that doesn't look like trash. Instead of having two ugly websites, I will have 1 that does the same thing. In addition I figure I can add our own web forum, not to drag people away from here, and possibly an auction system. So instead of studying for midterms I am caught up on this for a little bit. Ill post updates when I have something concrete to show.
Can someone post on the legal aspect of making this site? I don't want Nationals upset for some reason about using the LCA name on a "business" website.

Circularizing the Fraternity
Circularizing the Fraternity is prohibited under Code IX-5 of the Stat Code:
"No member or Unit of the Fraternity shall circularize the membership of the Fraternity, or any part thereof, for any reason, business, personal, or otherwise, without first obtaining the consent of the Grand High Zeta. General Fraternity executive or administrative communications, regular Alumni Association communications, or approved Chapter publications shall not be affected by this section."
I like the idea of a Lambda Chi Craigslist but I always have been a radical (from Berkeley no less). Perhaps this is yet another issue for us to chat about in Memphis.
