That's what's up Nonchalant. I'm with you, although I've never dated outside my race. I'm attracted to men of other ethnicities and races; but to me, their looks will never compare to a brotha's. I am loyal to African American men--all heights, weights, complexions, socioeconomic statuses, etc. I love my brothas. Nuff said.

Singing Angie Stone's Black Brotha.

"You got your blue collar brotha, light-skinned (dang is that right?) brotha, down for whatever, chillin' on the corner brotha, talented brotha, and to everyone y'all behind bars, you know that Del loves ya!"

Race isn't that important to me. As long as he's a nice guy and I'm physically attracted to him. I've never slept with a black guy before though. I'm not saying I wouldn't, it's just that I've only had white boyfriends.

Where I go to school, interacial dating is very high in this city.

Smile Black Brotha

This post actually made me think about the men I've dated. They all were of African (black) descent except one that was half puerto rican. I was acttracted to one Caucasion man my senior year of high school...but he was built like a Greek God and had a really good tan from playing soccer every day. However, I didn't date him. I'm attracted to all types of men from Phillipino to...um...whatever, but my preference has been and always will be black men. They're sexy as heck. I love brown skin! And dark skin on a tall chiseled man is HELLA SEXY!!! Tall, dark and handsome is how I like 'em! Oh, I only date men with Carribbean descent. They're different from regular black americans (no disrespect).

I can really cosign on the Carribbean man aspect, but if you only date black men with that type of heritage . . do you ever feel pigeon-holed (sp) . . I mean tall, dark, black, carribbean, chiseled are really specific qualifications. Do you ever have a hard time finding what you like? If not, can you teach a young girl (meaning me) ur secret ??

Black_Princess, they're everywhere. Its just finding the ones with good character. Because these men know they're a good catch, a good amount of them are dogs. Just go where carribbean men hang out. Carribbean resturant, party, concert, etc. Plus I'm of carribbean descent so I'm surrounded by them all the time.

The question was would you date not sleep with. Not attempting to get this forum off topic, but I am SO tired of other women objectifying our men and using them to get a "taste" of what a brother is like to satisfy some deep longing they have for brothers. Our men are NOT commodities on an auction block to be purchased and sold to the highest bidder for an elicit escapade only to be discarded after they have been used. (I am for the moment disregarding the fact that many of the brothers allow themselves to be used . . ) Sorry Mods . . .

but to answer the question . . . before I got married, I considered it briefly - not to quench any curiousity, but it was a genuine attraction. I decided being with a brother of another hue was NOT what I wanted to do . . . I love my brothers too much . . ..

ok i feel you on this... but black women do the same thing. if i say, "hey i think ima get my swirl on," arent i objectifying white men and trying to get a taste?

for the most part, attraction transcends color lines... if you were "genuinely attracted" to a non-black man, it would be because:
--you find him attractive and he happens to be non-black
--you find him attractive due to the fact that he is non-black

in other words, was it an attraction to the looks or the skin?

I think it is a bit different because our interest (if the reason is purely sexual) is not based on some illusion that somehow white men are these sexually ravenous beings that are instinctively better in bed. . . it isn't based off of some slave master mentality that being with a white man is something I have longed to do but haven't because it has been taboo for so long. I think the reasoning behind it is differnet because of the history

Attraction to looks and personality and he happened to be white. . .now if the wg is attracted to a brother's looks and personality - ok (still not in favor of it, but do what you do). However, my response was based on the comment 'I have never slept with a black man" - meaning color was the major factor . . not looks, not personality . . . plus she had posted that same dumb azz question/comment in another thread, but presented it in terms of sterotypical thoughts about AfAm men in bed.
