Anyone else snowed in tonight? We've got at least a foot of snow and expect a bit more by morning. Schools are already shut down for tomorrow and I'm off too due to the snow! Now we'll just have to see if DH's company will close as well. Fingers crossed that we'll all be able to sleep in tomorrow morning.

We're snowed in here in Central Illinois. School has already been called off for tomorrow. It's snowed most of today; hopefully it'll stop tonight. The streets are horrible, so I'm trying to find a sleigh.

Ditto the snowed in. Apparently all roads in the county are closed and we're not supposed to drive unless it's an emergency. I like the snow and all, but the temp is supposed to drop very sharply tonight and stay that tomorrow.

Metropolitan DC/Northern VA had yet another baby snow storm that everyone freaked out over - my office was deserted by 2pm yesterday, and they only started trickling in around 1pm today. I'm not sure why its so hard to remember to drive slow, keep away from everyone else, and keep your lights on.

On another note, my little 7lb bichon is loving the snow, and I have to drag her inside. Which is funny, because she certainly doesn't look like the kind of dog that would want to burrow her way through the drifts, and romp all through it.

The Federal Government shut down yesterday sometime between 1 and 2 pm and didn't reopen until 2 hours late today. There wasn't a lot of snow but there was a good bit of ice.

I wish all the idiots who don't like to or who can't drive in inclement weather would be encouraged to telecommute.

I dozed, read Wicked for a while, dozed again, read Wicked, went out and shovelled for 45 minutes or so. Came in for a break (cuz I'm not in good shape and over 40 and stuff and don't want a heart attack), read Wicked, dozed, shoveled for another 45 minutes. Took my daughter to her friend's house (because I had finally gotten the apron of the driveway clear from the huge pile the snow plow had dumped on it), shoveled some more, now I'm relaxing again. Not a bad snow day I guess, although I could do without the shovelling part! There was a drift behind my car that was up to my knees.
