Yes, definitely. The writers know enough to not *accidentally* throw that name in the mix. Burke was a philosopher, as were Rousseau and John Locke. Rousseau and Locke were philosophers who, among other things, were advocates of religion/faith over science. Burke was in opposition to that line of thinking. Perhaps this was the writers' way of aligning Juliet with the Losties (her animosity towards her ex-hubby would eventually mirror her feelings towards the Others, which is in direct opposition to the Losties). Then again, Juliet is a fan of science herself, so that theory might be a load of crap. We won't know until the series ends, I'm sure! But, that's what makes us love Lost!

And, now we get to add David Hume to our list of Lost philosophers!
I love Lost, but it always seems to create more questions than answers!

I love Desmond! Such a good episode too. I'm glad they're focusing on the original members of the show now.
Poor Charley.

I can't wait until there are characters named Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, LOL. I also can't wait until Charlie is dead.
Last night's episode was really good, although it left me a bit annoyed by the 10,000 loose ends that never get resolved.

I agree that last night was good, but also disconcerting. I'm just getting the idea that the ending of the show will be a lot of different storylines put together, which I don't like. I hate it when the bottom doesn't fall out of something. I like allegorical type stuff, so I hope it all boils down to something like we're talking about with the political philosophers. If its just scientific experiment gone wrong or something, I'm gonna be quite disappointed. Its like in Signs where I find out that it really is just aliens, how lame is that. Anybody can make a movie about such things.

I know what you mean... when The X-Files showed the animal-like aliens in the movie, it kind of ruined things for me. I hope Lost doesn't do something similar.
Anyway I feel partially responsible for Lost's bad ratings last week, because I went to bed at 8pm and watched the episode online in the morning. :-/
Oh and I am NOT excited for a Jack-centric episode next week. I don't like his character at all.

I couldn't get into last night's episode (that I watched this afternoon). Oh well, maybe next week I'll be more "into" it

Bwah ha ha ha.....ya, Mr. Driveshaft is getting annoying. They should put him back on TEH heroin.
I'm torn between thinking that Desmond is semi-hot and a stark-raving effed up lunatic. But his g/f's father is a supreme d!ck..not doubt about it.
