That's cool, I knew they pushed it back if it was on a weekend, but how has this not come up more often if the 16th is always Emancipation day?

Hmmm, what is Patriots Day on April 16th in Massachusetts?

Casimir Pulaski Day is actually a Polish Holiday.

The guy who was running for govenor at the time promised the Chicago Polish that he would give them a Polish holiday if they would vote for him. So they did, and he did. I don't think most schools/banks/gov offices get it off anymore, though.

I'd have to google to remember what Casimir Pulaski even did.

I went with the more Polish spelling (Yay wiki)

Yeah, I know it's a Chicago Polish holiday, but how great was it for the downstate kids to get off on Pulaski day and have no idea why

Valk, I hate you but I was just about to say the same thing about Bill. What a bum.

As for taxes, this will probably be the last year I don't have to pay any. I really can't wait to work four months a year for the government!

I had to change my residency to the state where I go to law school and I'm going to get a government handout for being a "working family." I'm pretty excited about that since this will also be the last year I don't have to pay.

Ah yes, the day where Bostonians celebrate by drinking massive amounts of beer and watching the Marathon. Boy I miss Boston.

This doesn't affect me so much, as I have to get my stuff in early for financial aid anyway.

Yes, only sweatshirts with cut off sleeves are allowed on Patriots Day. I love that holiday, the start of the Sox game to coincide with people starting to finish the marathon while my lazy ass sits and drinks beer. It's great. love ya too!

I thought these were pretty interesting. They discuss the constitutionality of taxation. I don't know if it would work in court but stranger things have happened.

Nick, all of these tax protester sites rely primarily on misrepresentation of fact coupled with citing bad law, non-existent law, or dictum (the non-binding part of a court's opinion).

Kevin, I have been looking into this for a little over a week after seeing America: Freedom to Facism. I have already looked at all those frivolous claims people make about taxes. I have looked through the tax code to get a better idea of what it was. I have read both of the articles that I included on my previous post. Those DON'T rely on the same BS as many tax protestor sites. They use an in depth approach that I haven't seen in any of the other sites. I thought that these articles were something most people wouldn't find with just a cursory Google search. These are the best ones I have seen so far on tax protest.
