One of the schools to which I have applied has been super about sending out regular updates, like a bi-weekly enewsletter to prospective students. It is definitely helping keep their school top-of-mind... I know my application is "under review" with them... I wish my status would change from "prospective" to "admitted!" Everytime I see an email from them, my heart skips a beat!

That is nice, I didn't receive anything like that during the application process. However, the schools I was accepted to did send out email reminders on acceptance/scholarship deadlines, etc.

I do see how that would be a bit of torture though while you're waiting for an answer.

As much as it kills me to say, the University of Alabama was by far the best at updating me on acceptance stuff. They sent me at least one email a week, and let me know quickly when I was accepted. Its a pretty exciting time, and a huge relief when you get into your first choice.

Man, that would have been nice - most schools I applied to were really lame about that. Also, I have another suggestion - I was on the fence at a ton of schools I applied to and so in April, when I still had only two rejections, I called every other school I applied to and asked the status of my application. I had four acceptances within the next week.

I got an acceptance email two hours later.
I really think it works - maybe it's that last bit of "showing interest." When I called, I said "Hi, this is GeekyPenguin, I'm an applicant for this fall. I've been hearing from a few schools lately and there are some deadlines coming up, but I'd really like to be able to give XXX Law the consideration it deserves."

They didn't need to know all I had were rejections.

Great idea... I am on the fence for many schools I have applied to. I'm excited about my first acceptance from back in Dec., but I'm just looking forward to having a big picture.

Hmm... Is April 1 too early for that phone call?

Also, if I got deferred from ED to RD at one of my schools, a super reach, and I haven't been invited to submit anything further, should I just sit and wait or do you think it would merit a love letter to their admissions office? I'm inclined to wait and see what happens... I don't want to be too much of a pest, but I'd give my eyeteeth for an acceptance!

Not to hold out on them or anything, but waiting till the last minute before making deposits got me 2 scholarships I'm not sure I would have gotten if I sent it in as soon as I was accepted. I don't think that would work for most places, but several friends and myself did the same stuff, I think it pressures your prime instate school to try and keep you from leaving the state.

Regarding the move from EA to RD... I still have the same contact info, and I'm not sure what else to send other than a letter? Any ideas? I applied in Sept, got deferred in November to RD. The first RD acceptances are starting to go out, per LSN, and no one from the deferred list has yet been accepted, as far as I've seen. I don't want to be a pest.

Thanks everyone! I have a few things cooking, and I'll send an updated resume and letter of interest in Feb to the school. Thanks for your help!

I don't think that could hurt at all - it will show continued interest! Like AXiD670 said, try and send supplemental materials of some sort with it, even if it's just an updated resume or something.

And shinerbock, my boyfriend played the same game with scholarships back in the dark ages when he went to law school - he ended up going instate with a full ride.
