Except for the real Van Wilder movie. Probably the funniest one since the Chevy Chase days.

What are you smoking? The funniest National Lampoon movie was Animal House by far. Van Wilder was good, had some good pranks, but it's like comparing the original Star Wars with the Phantom Menace. It just doesn't work.

I think the point is that what is interesting, exciting, meaningful and even what constitutes the experience of fraternity or sorority life is unique to each and every person. What one finds to be the epitome of or basis of fraternal life may be different to someone else. It doesn't give anyone the right to judge another and if you think it does, than that does not automatically mean that those whom you chose to judge should give a damn.

I can't agree with you more.

He said since the Chevy Chase days......which would mean Vacation.....which was about 12 years ago. Animal House was made in '78.

Vacation came out in 83. The European Vacation movie came out in 85. But neither of those movies set a precedent for collegiate life like Animal House did. They were more than just half-ass movies about road trips but the antagonists weren't as evil.

Maybe, but the initial comment about Van Wilder being the best National Lampoon movie since the Chevy Chase movies was directed at NL movies in general, not movies about collegiate life, nor about the best NL movie ever. It has nothing to do with Animal House and everything to do with the simple opinion that Van Wilder was the funniest NL movie since the Chevy Chase movies.
And the last "Vacation" movie was "Vegas Vacation" in 1997.

Was that vegas vacation movie any good? I couldn't watch anymore NL movies after Senior Trip.

It was alright, but not great. A far cry from the original "Vacation," "European Vacation" and "Christmas Vacation."

And I think that was the whole point of Elephant Walk commenting that Van Wilder was one of the few NL movies worth watching since the (good) Vacation movies.

22 years, woops. He never said anything about collegiate life. He said Van Wilder was the funniest National Lampoon movie since Vacation.

I know. I was trying to stay as relevant as possible to the original movie mentioned...
Which, by the way, looks like a lot like Drumline. If anyone has seen Stomp the Yard already, correct me for what I'm about to say, but the movie seems like it has a final showdown between the protagonist's group and a snottier, flashier group where the protagonist's group wins. I mean, the movie looks really good, up until the BET celebrity appearances. It's like the Mighty Ducks movies with the cameos from NHL players. Entertaining, but kind of sugary.
