Thanks
Thanks bichonl. Yours was one of the stories I followed with great interest. Congratulations on Tri-Delta. Your perseverance is a good example for me.

Sorry, I haven't been following your story. What is an honorary initiate?

I thought initiates were initiates. I didn't know there was such a thing with honorary in the NPC.

It is Tri Delta's way of saying we're AI-ing people now. Previously it was only absorbed locals, those women are called Alumane Initiates. Anyone else is called Honor Initiates.

Certainly I'm not one to question an org's AI policy, but for some reason everytime I hear the word "honorary" I think "in name only"...you know, like Honorary Chair.

In Zeta, Geralyn Lucas, our newest "AI" is termed anhonorary initiate.

In Zeta, the term is "Honorary Initiate," but it is not "in name only." An Honorary Initiate (that is what they termed my process) has all of the same rights and privileges of ZTA membership as someone who was initiated in college has. In other words, a Zeta is a Zeta.
Good luck with your journey, Corgi.

OTW, you've raised an excellent question. Tri Delta calls its AIs "honor initiates" or "honorary initiates". My membership certificate states that I was "regularly initiated" with the Alpha Pi chapter. I was initiated with their fall pledge class for Trident and Stars & Crescent degrees.
