As far as prices go, the earlier you buy, the better. Although it's too late now, you can get some really good prices before Halloween.

After Christmas you can get some great deals-- a friend of mine bought a $1000 tree for $250 last year. It is beautiful and about 12' tall.

You can get some great deals after Christmas, but the good trees are usually sold out by then as well. One of the best fake tree producers is in my hometown Holiday Tree and Trim. The trees are made in the USA and look nice! We still haven't broke down and bought one for the house, but we did buy a nice one for the Church last year. The trees are expensive, but I've seen them in person and they are worth the money.
