First of all, think about the kind of person who would say things like that to you. If it were your biological sister, do you think they would say something like "Whoa, I heard that your sister is a total skank"...I think not. They #1 do not think what they are saying is offensive to you, #2 don't have the good sense to "not say anything at all" when they can't say something good. People will always try to stereotype that which they don't know about, so our job is to try to debunk stereotypes by being good representatives of our organizations. Whether you are in the mall, at a party or even driving your car (that sticker or license plate frame gives you away) people will see who you are and you should do your best to give them every reason to think you are wonderful.
