I wish they made a phone that was just a phone. I don't play games, check my email, text or take photos with my phone. I don't need an appointment reminder or day planner or an alarm clock on my phone.
I just need it to store numbers and make calls! Why don't they make simple phones anymore?

I think they do, but they're all "pay as you go" phones.

I like texting because I really don't like talking on the phone. Also, my new phone has this AWESOME thing where I can use "voice mode" to text -- it transcribes what I say. It's not perfect, but it does a pretty good job -- much better than that T9 crap, which I don't like at all.

What kind of phone do you have? I'm overdue for a new one.
I pay the extra $5 to get/send unlimited texts and it's funny because I have the plan with the least amount of minutes. I'm on the phone pretty much all day at work and I absolutely hate talking on the phone after hours unless I really have to.
I was the one in middle school/high school you couldn't get off the phone... now you're lucky if I'm even on the phone five minutes because I can't stand it.

I have this guy, and really like it so far. Apparently I can watch TV on it, but haven't gotten that far yet.

I'm the same way. I don't really like the phone now.
My friend has her texts blocked because she was geting porn advertisments, and it bothers me. Each time I call her, I tell her to turn the text on again.
I text because I can't talk on the phone during the day.

I started texting when I lived in Australia in 2002 because it was HUGE there. I got back to the US and only one person I knew even knew what it was. I have a few friends that I text, but like pretty much everyone here, I refuse to use chatspeak. Nothing drives me more insane. It's good for when I'm at work and don't want to be taking personal calls all day tying up my business line.

That has happened to a few people I know--grown people. It's crazy. Or, rather, those men are crazy.

I text message very occasionally. I always spell things out though - chatspeak annoys me. And if I need to have an actual conversation, I use the phone rather than texting.

DITTO!!! I tried to explain that to the guy at the Alltel (or as I call them AllFAIL 'cause they suck!) store & he kept repeating "You don't want to text message?" me - "No" him - "You don't want to play games?" me - "NO" him - "You don't want to have independent ring tones for up to 100 callers" me - "NO!"
I want my phone to ring so I can answer it; store contact numbers; and allow me to place phone calls... PERIOD.
Of course they don't make those simple phones so I got as basic as I could. I don't even know how to text, yet there always appears one or two 10c charges on my phone list for text messages I called to get them to disable the feature but for some reason they can't do that If I didn't have 1100 anytime minutes for $39.95/month plus unlimited nights & weekends, then I would switch. Unfortunately, nothing out there comes close to that offer (and we don't have TMobile in my area). I would switch to Verizon if nothing else b/c the hubby & all of my family are on Verizon - but for $40 a month, I think that gets me around 300 anytime minutes which isn't nearly enough. I do well to stay within my 1100 minutes
