I know it may be cheating, but for years and years I've kept up with Days (and Passions!) at www.soapoperafan.com - it's a really good site with lots of information, including episode summaries (short versions and play-by-play), spoilers (if you want to know), rumors, and also casting/actor info (so you'll know when Shawn Brady # 3 emerges), etc.
