Have you made an effort to meet them, get to know them, see who the brothers are, etc etc. I know you went through the rush process, but as other people said, you might not have gotten a bid because they didnt think you needed one.

If you're going to initiate with the colony, then your main concern with the new chapter should be affiliation.
