The replies to her post, and some other posts in this thread, are unnecessarily harsh. I can't believe no one else has commented that.

Um, I clicked on this link because questions like this aren't normally met very well and I wanted to see the reaction she'd get from the rest of GC. The stuff you read here in this thread is the norm, IMO. This is the kind of reception you'd get if you posted a " OMG! Who's the best sorority?!?!?" thread as well.

As I tell new posters on other message boards, sometimes it's a good idea to get a feel of the boards and topics before deciding to spout off and post.

I don't think you have to blow sunshine, and yet, I don't think we need to tell people that they shouldn't want to know what they are asking or make fun of them for asking either.

You may not care who has the most members. You may not think it should matter. I tend to agree. But people pick their greek groups for a lot of crazy reasons. Why not have a live and let live attitude with questions you think are stupid and a helpful and affirming attitude with questions you think are worth answering?

Maybe we could open a "snark attack" thread for people who enjoy setting the misguided straight, on which sassy attitudes would be encouraged, and questions that some considered to be stupid could be reposted and made fun off.

And then other threads could be for people with genuine questions that we'd sincerely try to answer.

Yes. It's called just answering the question without any extras.

That happens sometimes on GC but if that always happened then this would be as boring as a CNN.com messageboard.

Or maybe people could stop being so sensitive.
