Well, I mean, money and recruiting are no problem at all for us......and we usually don't play teams like Ohio State for non-conference....so I might have to disagree.

Texas might want to expand its recruiting reach outside of the state someday. It's possible that your stellar recruiting season on the national level had a lot to do with that national championship, the win at Ohio State, etc. If you're saying that playing a Texas-only schedule would have yielded exactly the same results in recruiting, and that Texas would have made the same money playing Houston as Ohio State, then you're insane.

As far as I know........we have had bad ass recruiting classes every year for what, I dunno, maybe the last 6 years? Most likely more than that, but I don't remember that far back. We had the Top class in the country in 2002 and I believe the #2 in 2001......both before the National Championship.

I never said anything about a Texas only schedule or making money. We play teams from all over in non conference every year.....I said we generally don't play the #1 or #3 ranked teams in the nation, like Ohio State. Why schedule games with ranked opponents in non-conference when on any given year we could play 5 - 6 conference games involving an opponent that is in the top 25?

As long as we keep having good recruiting classes....there is no need to recruit outside of the state....there is plenty of talent in TX. I believe we have already signed 12 ESPN Top 150 recruits....all form Texas....and 9 more than second place OU with only 3.

Thanks Theta, it was one for the ages. I got to make down for the game too... I was at Boars Head at like 1am when a friend called and said he had a ticket for me, so I drove through the night...well worth it.

A two edged sword here.

I think the answer for the non-league games should be a combination of in and out of state games.

For the past several years, one of Ohio State's games has been against an in-state Mid American Conference (or other public) school. Why let all of the big stadium dollars go out of state?

In truth, the games have been fairly entertaining. Consider the OSU/Cincinnati game last week when Cincinnati was leading for a portion of the game. The same thing happened a few years ago when my Ohio Bobcats played in Columbus. We got stomped in the end, but were leading at halftime as I recall.

Nobody really expects the MAC teams to win, but it's great to have the chance to play in Ohio Stadium in front of 100,000 folks. And the paycheck for the school isn't bad either.

What drives me crazy is when a big powerhouse (I'll not name any names) schedules four or five creampuffs for slaughter just to run up the number is the "W" column.

That has to be the most embarrassing win in Georgia history. Almost losing to Colorado at home is horrible. I just don't get it. They can shut out Spurier at at SC but struggle against a 0-3 team.

I went to the UGA game (which was like being on the surface of the sun, by the way), it seemed Colorado came in with a good gameplan. It did show that their defense may not be as good as we initially though.

I think the defense did pretty good. Held them to 13 points. They just struggled in the first quarter. The offense stunk until Cox game in. I guess it should be expected when you have a true freshman as QB.
