If ever, DA. I still maintain that Calahan isn't the coach to bring the Huskers back. He's had his chance to get the players for his system. If this is as good as the Huskers will get with him, is that going to satisfy the folks in Lincoln?

He called the game like he was a deer in the headlights. It simply became predictable, which is why the Solich comment was made. I think a lot of it is that he for whatever reason, didn't believe that the offensive line could be counted on to protect Taylor and he wasn't going to lose the season on the account of trying to win one game. He seems to have forgotten the beating that Zac stood up to last year. While I can't totally disagree with the importance of ZT, I would have really loved to have opened up the playbook, played with wreckless abandon and stuck it to USC. High risk, high reward, and it could have happened. Even that didn't have to happen, if we would have just thrown more short passes to keep the pressure off (which would have opened up the running game...)

The Nebraska defensive front 7 played pretty lights out. USC was smart in using short passing to keep pressure off of JDB. Our secondary of course was an issue, but everyone knew that.

I do believe that Callahan is the appropriate person to be righting our program. It's impossible to judge off of one early season big time opponent. We're certainly good enough to beat Iowa State and Missouri, to win the North. And since we get Texas at home in October (on their first true road game) we've got a pretty decent chance to beat them. So long as we win the North, the Big XII championship game has proven to be anybody's ball game and thus, a BCS bowl is a legitmate prospect. Fans in Lincoln will be plenty pleased with that.

Play like you did against USC and we're going to wipe you all over the field.

Texas typically has played a powder puff non conference schedule rarely leaving the state of Texas with the exception of one marquee game.

They don't always have that marquee game. They certainly did this year though.

as long as strength of schedule doesn't matter........why schedule high profile games year in and year out?

Money and recruiting (in that order) are the first two reasons which come to mind. I'm sure there are other good reasons though.

I'd agree with that, I wish we'd thrown the ball to Blythe more, but I guess he got it more times than last week.

I'm not a Nebraska fan by any means, but I think that Nebraska stands a good shot of winning the Big XII North.
