I saw an article in the Washington Post about the poverty rate in various cities and it ranked Fresno California #1 and New Orleans #2 and Atlanta #3 with Cleveland about a number 9. I was surprised about Atlanta and its poverty ranking-I think this had to do with the number of people who have been displaced because of Katrina and people going to these cities to affect the overall demographics and economic situation in them. No one can say that the inner city does not have its share of economic woes. What can be done to alleviate this situation? Heck even the middle class are feeling the brunt of the economy when they can't afford housing in their areas!
