I understand that it is a game and Will is a master manipulator. I think he said as much to Janie once. He said something to the effect that he stabbed her in the front.
I think it is also important to remember that Will is a doctor. During his medical school years he probably learned the art of good bed-side manners. Notice how he talks to people in the house. He dosen't yell or scream or even *sound* manipulative. He just looks at them, and talks to them in a direct, honest and calm way and convinces them that they need to do something for their own good. That is what a doctor would do if he realizes that a patient is in dire need of a surgery - he knows the patient is apprehensive, so he talks to the patient in a way that is calm and understanding, while at the same time he's convincing the patient to have the proceedure done.
