She gets them at 4:00 and then attends 9 parties the same day????? That sounds like a terrible day.

Yes -- I think it's done to avoid the worst heat of the day. They'll go from 4 o'clock, attend five parties, take a break, and then attend the last four parties. The last party is scheduled to end at 9:15 p.m. Then of course, they'll have to rank the houses again. Of course, that's if TexasDaughter is lucky enough to get invites to 9 houses. I spoke to her a few minutes ago and she's a little jumpy. The waiting is SO hard. She wants this very much.
Thanks for all the support, guys! I really, really appreciate it. You should see me -- every few minutes at work, I'll check GC and read for a few minutes. Then I'll ostensibly do a few minutes of "real" work. I can't stay focused. I can tell this is going to be a productive week!

I was president of my Greek Council during my Old Army days at Texas A&M. We did a lot of cross-council events with many NPC sororities- these were some of my favorite Greek events. I hope she gets to experience Aggieland Stompfest- its one of my favorite things!
Go TexasDaughter!!!!!!

How long are the parties?? 5 hours 15 minutes is not a lot of time to get invites, have 9 parties, and allow for a break. It does make sense to avoid the midday heat, though.
Good luck to TexasDaughter.

Ok, I'll come out of the closet here. I've been a recruitment-thread-addict for a while now. I usually just read all the posts instead of contributing to them, but I can't be quiet any longer.
TexasMom... it's 4:30 and we haven't yet heard about TD's invites. You realize that we're all waiting (some more patiently than others) for your update. Please don't make us(ok, me) have to wait much longer...

LOL! My guess is that the invites are given out at 4:00 Central. So we still have a few minutes!

So the pnm gets to rank the sororities? I don't know how this works logistically, but it sounds like a great idea...that way you are not getting cut because they don't think you are interested in them! It's alittle more communicative.

Well not really, you rank them that night after you attend the parties but the sororities have no way of knowing how a PNM ranked. Say you attend 9 parties one day, you rank them that night and you can only attend say 5 the next day. You'll pick your top 5 and rank the other 4 houses 6, 7, 8, and 9. So if all of your top 5 invite you back, those are the parties you go to and you "release" in a way the other 4 sororities. If 4 of your top 5 ask you back then you'll go to those 4 but you still have one more spot so they'll see if you're 6th has asked you back. If 6 did invite you back that fills your schedule, if not they'll look at 7 and so on.

We're Hanging In there
TexasDaughter called about an hour ago -- she was a bit upset, I'm afraid. She got 5 invites back, which I tried to tell her was good. Of course, she's in a group where most of the girls got 7, 8 or 9 so she's feeling a little down 'cause she didn't receive that many. Most of those girls are legacies, however, and I reminded her of that fact. She shed a few tears, but then tried to look at the positive. She is determined to put a good face on it and go to the five parties and give them all a chance. The first house she goes back to is one of her favorites, and I think that's probably a good thing. She got a really good vibe from the girls at this house yesterday.
She's a little worried about sitting around outside during down times. Each of the parties will last about 25 minutes, I think. I told her to call me and we'd chat, if she starts to feel down. Was this good advice? I don't want her to sit around and get down on herself.
The five groups she goes back to, in no particular order, are:
Taylor, Chris, Fantasia, Tamyra and Paula.
Thanks for everyone's support. We both really appreciate it.

Just heard from TexasDaughter again. Her RhoGamma told her there was a mistake on her invites, and she is also to attend Katherine and Ruben. So she will attend seven parties tonight -- Fantasia, Katherine, Ruben, Chris, Paula, Taylor and Tamyra. She sounded a bit more upbeat this time.
