The problem is that Bro. Young made his point badly in this instance. I think the bigger point he was trying to make was the lack of quality, and frankly that could have included AfAms as well as the other groups. Quality is a matter of commitment to standard-not ethnicity. Just as there are good providers of service, there are bad ones of all colors.

Personally I have a bigger issue with his apparent agreement with Walmart running these type businesses out.

All that being said, I won't hang Bro. Young out. The body of his life's work and commitment to civil and human rights ought to count for more than an instance or two of comments that cause a stir. If you put intemperate comments with a pattern of racist or prejudicial behavior, then maybe I could see it -- but not in this case.

Seems too broad a group of people to be defamed by that comment.... Is it a class action?

Stupid lawsuit, although I think it is ridiculous to condone what he said. I personally always like Young, despite my differences with many of his viewpoints. However, if someone were to make a statement regarding blacks being the cause of inner city crime, or something else similarly broad, I'm sure the black community would be outraged.

Wouldn't you? Do you not realize how overly broad and stereotypical a statement that is?

It's like if someone said "hey, Jeffrey Dahmer was a white man who cannibalized black people. Therefore, we need to watch all white men because they probably want to do the same thing." Do you see the point?

That was exactly my point, while something may be true, making blanket statements is a different matter. I was not condoning saying things like "black people are the cause of inner city crime," rather, I was comparing it to people condoning the comments of Young.
