Bids are opened at Bryant-Denny Stadium around 5:30 PM Central Time on Sunday. Fingers crossed all the way.

Although my D has yet to be offered a bid, so nothing is certain, I admit to feeling terribly bad for the young ladies weeping their eyes out over their failure to receive invitations. My D feels bad. I understand that competition is a way of life, but if all those young ladies feel as strongly about sorority life as my D, the impact of rejection must be awful. But for the grace of God go I, as the saying goes. She considers herself terribly fortunate to have had such excellent luck throughout rush week.

I will be sure to update everyone once she calls this evening. Stay tuned to BamaDad, a very proud father no matter how the chips fall....

I will be sitting here on pins and needles waiting to find out her new home -

Oh yea BamaDad and BamaMom - Don't have a parent "freakout" when your daughter calls you crying - because like someone said before - when you put an 18 year old into these - emotional situations - then you are going to hear and see tears -

she could be crying because she liked all three houses - or she could be crying because she LOVEEEDDDD one house SOSOOOO much more then the other two - or she could be crying because she is soo worried about EVERYTHING - (come on you know how 18 year old young ladies can be) - and a little bit of the inside scoop - the sororities don't mind a few tears at the pref night ceremony - it shows them that the pnm is emotionally invested -

hard to explain to dad but mom might understand.

THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL THREAD

Zillini said that bid lists were due last night at 10:00 PM CST. I did not want to give the appearance of impropriety or risk violating Greek protocol. Given that, I guess we can name her preferences. BamaDaughter had six invitations for Preference Day, so she unfortunately had to say good-bye to three excellent sororities Saturday. She would not tell us her final ranking after Preference Day due to superstition, but did tell us her preferences:

Alpha Delta Pi

Pi Beta Phi

Delta Zeta

My daughter found it difficult to cut sororities each night of recruitment. To all other sorority actives and alums out there, she thought you were all wonderful. BamaDaughter said she would have accepted a bid from any of the fifteen sororities all along. I guess that comes from being a non-legacy - its likely easier to keep an open mind. In any event, it was not easy because they were all great, the difference just one of degree. We hope one of the fine houses remaining give her a bid today. Keep your fingers crossed.....

Ladies, I have to tell you, it was easier waiting for the results of my bar exam than it is waiting to see whether my daughter receives a bid! My stomach nerves are as agitated as when I'm standing before the jury waiting to give an opening statement. I slept so fifully last night that I watched "Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein" during a Bela Lugosi marathon. My consolation is that BamaMom slept just as miserable. No doubt, BamaDaughter has had her share of butterflies too!
