Hi Katey - I am so sorry to hear about your loss and the loss of a sister, as well as her brother. That is a tragedy.

I don't know about wearing a symbol of ours, as the lyre is our official mascot, but there are ways to remember her by that will also honor AXO. These are just some ideas, but feel free to email me personally for some more or to discuss other ideas.

If you know her big and/or little sister, you could have matching letters for them made, and using the same fabric and colors, make AGD letters for yourself.

Or - if you don't know or aren't close enough to them for that, donate some money (even a small amount - say $25) to the chapter as a sort of memorial to your friend. Then it could be used as an award or scholarship type money (I'm going to use "Amy" since I don't know her name) -- so the chapter could take a vote on which sister best personifies AXO according to our standards, and whoever is voted on would receive the $25 towards her dues, books, etc. Maybe this would lead to a tradition that is awarded each semester. Our alum chapter offers this type of scholarship to our collegians in memory of our lost sisters.

Or - if you really want to make a lasting impression, Alpha Chi Omega recently revealed the Pathway to the Future - which is a brick garden located at headquarters. You can actually purchase a brick with her name and whatever else written on it. The money goes to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and the information can be found on our national website:
http://www.alphachiomega.org

Like I said, these are just some ideas, but I am so happy that you and your friend had such a wonderful relationship. I am glad that she represented our sisterhood well, and I am sure that she is missed by all who knew her, and for those of us that didn't but feel the loss in our Bond.

Let me know if you'd like any more info - or if you just want to chat. Take care -

Love in greekdom!

AXO Alum
