agreed with PKT, we don't want to crush the hand. sure the "limp fish" handshake is bad, but so is the CRUSHING VICEGRIP SHAKE, which sets off an equally bad precedent. most guys figure it out that balance, but sometimes, with an especially small woman, I'll do less of a grip just to make sure.
they should always shake the hand though, unless they're trying to be classy and take your hand, not shake it, but that usually involves a kiss on the palm or something like that.
