i can finally say that i am a member of the jlw. i just got my first eblast and i am very excited about this league. they do great work in the metro area!!!

I am going into my 3rd year as an active and next week will be volunteering at the School Supply Give Away for the community. If you are able to get in and join do it...it is the one thing I do "for myself" (LOL volunteer) aside from kids' activities, PTA, being a sports mom, etc!! And I got a call tonight to learn my placement this year on the Membership Committee!!

This organization is a great way to connect with other women in your area and do work that you might not be able to otherwise contribute to.

thanks a lot. i was the b'more league, but the commute was alot. hq for dc is near hubby's job so it works out better for us.

you should really think about joining when time permits.

I'm a provisional member! Our retreat starts on the 9th of Sept. I was extremely impressed with the work they do. The women are so friendly. I am overwhelmed by the programming.

If this question is out of order, just tell me and it will cease and desist. How expensive is it? Is it similar to the dues we already pay in the terms of sorority or much more expensive?

i think it depends on your league and the area. b'more league dues were $150. with menu responsibilities you can pay well over that--im thinking $500 or more. dc dues are i think $250 (firecracker can correct me as im a transfer).

it can be a lot especially if you have a family so be mindful of that when you are deciding. im sure the ladies here who are in sororities can provide you with more clear cut information
