I would definitely mention it in casual conversation, so that they can tell you about possible ways that they themselves could have studied abroad, such as doing what is called being "inactive" for a period of time. I know that a lot of ladies in my sorority, Kappa Delta, were able to go inactive while they studied in other countries for a semester. Some sororities may not have that benefit, though. Hope that helps a bit. I don't think they will hold asking a question such as that against you!!!
