Thumbs up

I made it back from the conference today and it was absolutely wonderful. I wish I could have met some of you there. Soror Eveready, where did you volunteer? I am completely exhausted. They made sure that every minute of every day was filled. The highlights of the conference were meeting Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin and Iman at the Women of Power luncheon. Also, Morgan Freeman moderated one of the YP workshops and hung around to meet and greet afterward. The gala was also exceptional. Johnetta B. Cole was one of the honorees and her acceptance speech sent chills down my spine. I missed the concert and the comedy show but I heard both were great. Now that I think about it, there were too many highlights to list here. Although this wasn't part of the conference, it was also a great honor to be able to visit the gravesite of Coretta Scott King.

I'm a member of the New York YP chapter. I'd love to talk to some of you offline to exchange ideas about programming for the year. I'd be interested to know what some of your chapters have planned.

Soror Steeltrap, we have a few YPs that have essentially aged out, but we don't ask them to leave. They are still very active in our YP chapter.

Next year's conference will be in St. Louis. I hope to meet some of you there!
