No one is saying she is going to be released because her rec is from another chapter! However, it does help when a chapter alumna writes a rec for a PNM going through at Ole Miss. I doubt any chapter at Ole Miss will disregard the recs from other chapters!

ETA: Any information on a PNM is helpful and greatly appreciated!

I gotta agree on that. It would be nice if it could be cut down... out of consideration for everyone else. Even though it's in small font, it takes up more than an entire screen on my computer.

And before anyone says it, no, I don't wish to turn off signatures because then i'd never remember who's in what GLO

Anything is possible. The question is whether it is probable.

Like Sheila said, anything is possible, but odds would be strongly stacked against you and I would be that you would get cut in the first cut. But I think that any PNM worth their salt that did a little research would have at least some recs. Recs aren't THAT hard to get. It's hard to imagine a PNM that is "very desirable otherwise" that wouldn't have procurred any recs whatsoever.

does this hold true for all competive southern schools, because i am going to auburn and i was told that if i had one rec that i would be fine and that i didnt need to know the person who wrote my rec personally, but that it was fine as long as it was a rec. Would it be better to send in one by someone who knows me personally for auburn?

I would say it's always better to have one from someone who knows you personally. However, if the person is an alumna of that chapter, even if they don't know you it might carry more weight. I would just send both in. Two recs is not too much, seven recs is.

If it comes down to you vs. another PNM at Auburn, the chapter might go with the one they can find out the most about--i.e., the one whose sponsor really knows her. Also, it's good if your sponsor was a member at Auburn, although by no means is it hugely important.

gagirl, could you pm me and let me know your city? I'm in GA and might be able to point you in the direction of a rec.

I'm also in Georgia and can help you find recs if you live in Fulton, Gwinnett, or Cobb County.
