Its funny that a strong black woman doesn't get the respect that she deserves, which just makes her stronger. We don't know what went on behind closed doors besides what they release and even then, of course they are going to slander the other person involved (STAR) to make themselves look better (Barbara and the officials over at ABC). What they did was dirty (from having Rosie replace Meredith when they knew that STAR and ROSIE are complete opposites/strong personalities by theirself). It's ridiculous that we can't appreciate or even congratulate a strong woman or man without slandering and/or being negative about them.

But why should everything be about Star?

Just because Star and Rosie don't get along, isn't a good enough reason not to hire Rosie. Unfortunately that is society. You have to work with people you don't necessarily get along with. It's a fact of life. To me it sounds like Star had no intention of ever wanting to try to get along with Rosie.

Basically what you are saying is that a boss should never hire a person that one of his workers doesn't get along with? It doesn't work that way. The boss is going to look for who does the best job. Not whether ONE person doesn't like them.

Now, if Barbara, Joy and Elisabeth all came back and said "no we don't want her to work with us" it might have been a whole other issue, because it is not just one person saying "I can't work with this person" it is the whole cast.

But the only reports we have heard is Star not getting along with Rosie, which like I said, isn't a good enough reason.

Plus, from the sounds of it Star KNEW that her contract wasn't going to be renewed long before Rosie was hired. From, what I'm reading on this thread and what I'm understanding, it sounds like Star knew back in like April that her contract wasn't going to be renewed but Rosie wasn't hired until May.

I looked at a soundbite from the show where Barbara Walters talked about the situation.

Pretty cold.

Seriously - it was one of the nastiest things I've seen on TV. I half expected her to burn a picture of Star or something...

I watched Star on the Today show this morning and I have to say, I don't dislike her as much as I did before. She ate some humble pie on the issue of planning her wedding on the View and such. She did, however, also say that this would be the last we'd hear from her on the issue. I was laughing to myself b/c the People article entitled 'I Was Fired' is coming out today.

From what I hear (did not see any of it), the wedding thing was pretty outlandish.

She needs a roundhouse kick to the side of her head (or depending on how you look at it she'd get a roundhouse kick to the eye socket on the side of her head).

I didn't either, but according to the Today Show interview, ABC released a 12 page document detailing all the reasons Jones' contract wasn't renewed and one of the reasons was the wedding issue. She said she feels bad that she used her celebrity to plan her wedding. She seemed pretty genuine, but I guess hindsight is 20/20 in that type of issue.

btw, she really DOES look better heavier....she's looking a little funky since she lost weight! Especially with the alien eyes
