Star just announced on The View today that she is leaving the show - here is the article by the AP
Star Jones Reynolds leaving 'The View' By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer
30 minutes ago
Don't expect any smackdown between Rosie O'Donnell and Star Jones Reynolds on "The View." Reynolds said Tuesday she was leaving the show.
She told People magazine, "I feel like I was fired."
Rumors that she was leaving have intensified since the April announcement that Rosie O'Donnell would be replacing Meredith Vieira on "The View" in the fall.
O'Donnell had made several caustic remarks about Reynolds, saying that it was dishonest for her to talk about losing more than 100 pounds through diet and exercise without talking about gastric bypass surgery.
Reynolds, one of the original cast members of Barbara Walters' daily chatfest, made the announcement after the first commercial break of "The View" on Tuesday, saying the show had decided to move in a new direction.
"I'm not sure what the future holds," she said. "But I'm absolutely sure who holds the future."
Her announcement came on the same day that Lloyd Grove's gossip column in the New York Daily News headlined: "Star gazing may end soon for `View'-ers," and repeated one of O'Donnell's quotes about Reynolds.
Walters, after beckoning the studio audience to give Reynolds a standing ovation, indicated the timing was a surprise. She expressed her "sadness that it has turned out this way."
"I can't imagine how `The View' would have succeeded without you," she said.
Comic Joy Behar looked like she was shocked.
"Who am I going to fight with?" Behar said.
Reynolds replied: "Something tells me you will have somebody to fight with."

What I don't understand is why BW got so bent out of shape when Star made her announcement. So what they gave her the option to tell people whatever she wanted to tell them - that's exactly what she did! Now they have a problem with it.
Whatever, obviously, they are afraid of looking bad. Sounds like a guilty conscience to me.

Brandy to fill in on The View (People.com)
I, a Delta of many words, don't know what to say on this one.
Could Star Jones Reynolds's replacement on The View be Brandy? The singer and actress will fill in on the ABC morning show next Wednesday and Friday, her rep tells PEOPLE exclusively.
The 27-year-old former Moesha star is currently a judge on America's Got Talent, an NBC reality show produced by American Idol's Simon Cowell. "America's Got Talent has really opened a lot of doors for me," she tells PEOPLE. "I want to do a lot more TV."
Her View stint could lead to a full-time job. "These tryouts are for consideration for the permanent gig," a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE. "They plan to have a few people trying out, like what CBS did (before hiring) Craig Ferguson for the Late Late Show."
On Thursday, One Life to Live actress Renée Goldsberry was the first guest host to fill in for Reynolds. Goldsberry was recruited "almost at the last minute," according to cohost and show creator Barbara Walters.
Goldsberry will be a guest host again on Monday. Tuesday's episode will be a repeat of a previous broadcast and All My Children's Susan Lucci will fill in on Thursday.
Born in McComb, Mississippi, Brandy (full name: Brandy Norwood) has released four albums that together have sold more than 25 million copies. She starred in UPN's Moesha from 1996-2001, and had leading roles in the movies TV movies Cinderella and Double Platinum.
The View has been the focus of much attention since Reynolds's surprise on-air announcement Tuesday that she would not be returning for the show's 10th season. She revealed to PEOPLE that she had been fired.

What happened to Star happens all the time in the media and on television. People are constantly told that their contracts will not be renewed, and work for months knowing that they will be out of a job in the near future. Unfortunately, that's life in the media/entertainment business. The only difference here is that Barbara and Star chose to make this public.
She's a wealthy woman with a law degree. I'm guessing she'll be just fine.
