There is a way to get Greek letters to display in every other font, you know...just look through Character Map. 
To test it out, are the Greek letters in my sig showing up to everyone? I'm on a PC (bleh!) running Firefox--how about everyone else?

You think you had it bad . . . 1st GC was down, and then my modem had problems right when GC was going to be back up! My modem got back to normal today!

MaryAmanda's letters showed as greek to me too. Do mine look greek?
I went to the Character map, scrolled down to Times New Roman (since most everyone has that font), clicked on the letters ΣΚ, pasted them in my profile, and then changed the font in my profile to Times New Roman. If they don't show up for everyone else then I'm lost too and need some help getting my Greek letters back.

I got my letters by going to "Insert Symbol" in MS Word...then copy/pasting them into my signature.
