And because the Beastie Boys have penises. Society still likes to put outspoken women in their place. I read an interesting editorial the other day where the writer compared the hate mail that female columnists get with that received by their male counterparts. By and large, the tone and tenor of the hate mail that women received was far more violent and personal and made many references to killing them/harming their families.
So yeah, I'm not all that surprised that the FBI was called because Natalie Maines received a death threat that detailed the hows, whens, and wheres of how she would be killed at a concert in Dallas. Fear is a powerful deterrent. I'm just glad that they weren't silenced.
