I am so sorry about the Bill Clinton comment about running for a 3rd time. When I wrote the post, I was thinking 2 consecutive terms because Ohio has a law for the gov'nor that one can be elected for 2 consecutive terms, must sit out a term, and then can be elected again for 2 consecutive terms.

Anyway, back to the original topic...
I do not see anyway that Hiliary Clinton can win the nomination, let alone Pres in 2008. Although liberal democrates will vote for her, I do not see many moderates or Reagan/Bush democrates voting for her. And the key to winning an election is getting the Reagan/Bush democrates to vote for you (especially in Ohio).

Now Hiliary as VP candidate in 2008, that is more realistic.

If Satan's Army ran against Hillary Clinton, I still wouldn't vote for her.

The thing is we have two years and anything can happen in two years. On a national level, few people knew who Bill Clinton was at this time in 1990, but he won the presidency in 1992. I knew of him from his speech at the DNC in 1988.

I think that Senator Hillary Clinton has a good chance of winning the Democratic nomination.

But not a chance of winning the presidential election. Her nomination would be the end to this whacked out Democratic party of recent. Im not complaining though.

Unhappy

I dunno, but my conspiracy theory gene is activated and I am beginning to think that there will not be a presidential election in 2008 in the United States...

Especially if we get attacked again my terrorists with a nuke, i.e. dirty bomb...

That would mean martial law would be in effect and all powers to the people would be nullified.

So much for democracy...

Haven't had my consitutional law class yet, but I'm not sure that the President can suspend his term limits simply by declaring that there is a 'national emergency.'

- nor can Congress. I think you'd probably need a new amendment for that.

Hillary being nominated as the Dem. candidate would pretty much confirm that the Dem party is run by those lacking sanity.

Even as VP she holds nothing because she is just a very bitter, hateful person. She has her strong supports, but those are made up of people just as angry and pathetic as she is. When it comes down to results of her work she will look even worse. She has done nothing noteworthy other than making situations worse.

From what I remember is that in extreme cases, the Supreme Court can grant some kind of presidential powers during a national emergency to be addressed for a specific amount of time and I think it is outlined in the constitution.

I also think that it was done before like around the civil war... But, I could be wrong...

And at 9-11 didn't NYC delay Bloomberg's inauguration and transfer of power until the crisis was quasi-resolved? Just asking?

Mayor Giuliani offered to stay in office until the crisis was over, but it wasn't necessary. The Mayoral election was held as expected, and Bloomberg was inaugurated. 9/11/01 was actually a primary election day, but that election was postponed for two weeks.

My apologies, I'm not sure what I was thinking when I said that originally. I realized after the fact that I was wrong when I got to thinking about other amendments - Prohibition, Women's Right to Vote that came after Cleveland and before 22.

And as far as the actual topic of this thread - Hillary running for president in 2008, I think I like what someone else posted about perhaps her being the VP candidate. I'm not sure who would be a good running mate for her though.

I'm with you since GWB thinks it's a great idea to hire Saudis to cover our ports. Isn't there something in our country about bringing in outsiders ONLY if there is an American unable to do the job??? I am just sick over this.
