I'm just too embarrassed when we...(not for the sensitive)

wow, i had 2 scenarios in 24 hours! and its only feb. 6--what does the rest of the month have in store?

1. so in one of our building meetings, where there are approximately 12 black people in the building, we we're taking a vote on something, and im sitting next to my friend (another black woman which i'm often mistaken for and vice versa). so as everyone is writing on their ballots (quietly), this black guy looks up and says something like "i almost couldnt recognize you two. you know we cant all sit together, how will they know who's who?"

which clearly as a joke, but since 1. ive heard that soooo many times already, and 2. we're 3 of the 4 black people in the room, it was definitely an awkward silence.

clearly i was pissed, moreso because he always plays the "hey im the token gay black man, so i can say whatever i want cause im a diva who tells it like it is" and sometimes its not cute.

so in response, i say, "hey jaron, remember that one time you made an ass of yourself in front of everyone?" and left it at that.


2. yesterday, the majority of staff was working on bulletin boards. one RA comes to me in front of everyone and says "what do you think of this for a bulletin board: put a bunch of black people's pictures up and a caption that says "its black people's month: appreciate!"

now im giving him a "youre an idiot" look, but i respond with, "i'll submit your query to the council of black people and we'll get back to you in 2-5 business days. is that enough time for you?"

and he's like, "im not asking for permission, i just wanna know if it's a good idea." and im like "clearly you are. as long as youre making a bulletin board every other month that says "it's white people's month: again!" do what you ya gotta do."

the problem is, my seething sarcasm is taken for amazing un-PC humor on my staff...
