First, I would never "LOL" about abortion. It is an incredibly sad and horrible issue that I do not find in the least bit funny.

Secondly, it is precisely the neverending debate that makes me avoid debating it most of the time. There is no middle ground, no compromise. If you are for it, you have to be really for it. If you are against it, you are really against it. So, why beat each other up about it? I have my own simple way of fighting for an end to abortion, and it doesn't include arguing about it with people who will never agree with me. The converations can be very interesting, but I don't enter into them thinking that I may actually change someone, and I would guess that my opponents think the same way.

I am LOLing at your response to that post. I find it funny and the reason is as follows.

You call it arguing and I call it discussing/debating. It is an exchange of ideas and light can always be shed on such issues without people completely changing their positions. Grown adults should know that before they embark on such discussions and end with "well, let's just agree to disagree" or "why express my viewpoint...you're going to disagree anyway." I hate consolation prizes.

Call me insensitive but I tend to mix objectivity with subjectivity and critique the discussion format as independent of the topic being discussed.
