If I'm understanding correctly following the thread, then my academic analogy is offensive? I apologize if so, I was just trying to think of another way to express the distinction between a service and a social sorority ...

When I'm describing OPA to interested girls, they usually ask what the difference is between a service sorority and a social sorority. While I am not in control of the national website, I am in control of my own response to that question, so do you all have any suggestions for ways I can explain the difference without being offensive?
