I just don't get the pen thing. I always carry Gamma Phi Beta pens in my purse because it's a good way to start a conversation with someone who may also be Greek. If the lady in front of me in line wants to use it to write a check, I don't think my founders will have a beef with that.
The only beer steins I have are ones that my boyfriend's fraternity gave away at a formal. My dad drinks out of them when he is visting. If for whatever bizarre reason one of my neighbors saw and asked my dad if he was a SigEp too, I'm sure he would just explain, "No, but my daughter's boyfriend is."
