Been there, done that
I have to agree with everyone...to a certain extent. As one of the few who have been "expelled" from University (although I'm back in now) I am proof that skipping TOO much won't get ya your degree anytime soon. But sometimes if it is your sanity or class, and you must skip, then I say do it. Allow yourself like three classes a year you will miss. BUT make sure that you still do the readings for the class and that you make a buddy in the class so you can get the notes from them!
