AlcoholEdu is required for all Tri Delta new members - from my chapter's experience, it seems that while the intentions are good, how it is presented needs a bit of work. last fall's new member class said that it was quite redundant and that they felt as though they were being treated like junior high kids. that being said, they also said there were a few valid points hidden every once in awhile. hopefully this works out, and that AlcoholEdu can be improved so that its taken more seriously by all that take it.

that being said, Berkeley's issues are far beyond underage drinking within the greek system. it's well known that the bars don't take the whole 21-over idea very seriously. the sorority and fraternity members i know from there are no different than those from any other campus...yes, they may have their run-ins with overindulgence, but they also are valuable and necessary additions to Cal's academic and social life. i was at the campus a few years ago when a girl fell off a fraternity balcony and almost died when her head cracked open - certainly something needs to be done, just maybe something other than the liquor ban and the online course. hmm
