It all depends what the chapter needs...if it's help repairing the house or something, your presence would help more than money. But if they are broke (been there done that) or need rent, etc trust them enough to give them a little $$$. If you are wary, write a check to the landlord or whoever they owe instead of giving $$$ to the chapter directly.
